What does it mean when Sensor Connect Network Status reports a Network Outage?
Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controllers connect to your local cell phone tower via the GSM network. We have partnered with some of the largest cellular network service providers in the country to ensure the controllers are able to connect to our platform via this network, and this is how you are able to communicate with your geyser controller via the Sensor Connect Smart Home app.
It is normal for Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controllers to disconnect and reconnect to the GSM network several times per day. This is usually due to the SIM card in the Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controller simply registering a connection to another cell phone tower in your area to find a better connection. The process of reconnecting normally takes a few minutes, and this does not impact the heating of your geyser in any way. In fact, we’ve designed the Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controller so it will keep working even when it has been disconnected for a longer-than-normal period of time.
Not being able to connect to the Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controller can sometimes cause issues. Such as if you want to change your geyser heating schedule, or if you turned your geyser off because you were away from home for a long period of time and are unable to turn it back on. More often than not, you can simply make the desired changes in the Sensor Connect Smart Home app, such as update your geyser heating schedule or turn the geyser on, and the Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controller will receive your instructions when it manages to reconnect to the GSM network. We recommend that you do this first. Apply the desired settings and wait for the device to reconnect.
Occasionally, however, the GSM network itself experiences a major outage, and the connectivity of some or all the Sensor Networks Smart Geyser controllers in on area will temporarily be impacted. When this happens, we’ll let you know via the Sensor Connect Smart Home app. Rest assured that we’ll already be in contact with the cellular network service providers when this happens. It can, however, take a few hours for them to resolve the issue on their side, and this is unfortunately beyond our control. It’s best to simply wait and try again later.
